Central Receiving

Central Receiving is the centralized area where the College accepts deliveries.  Receiving accepts on average 100 packages daily from various express services (UPS, FedEx, DHL, and Amazon etc.) as well as deliveries from independent trucking companies. In addition to receiving items, Central Receiving also delivers all packages as well as completed Reprographics Requests throughout the campus.

When received, all packages and orders are logged and require a signature upon delivery on the campus. Central Receiving retains the signed receipts certifying a departmental has received the items. These files are often required by Accounts Payable prior to proceeding with payment. 

Each department is responsible for checking their orders carefully and notifying Purchasing of any discrepancies.

Any delivery too large for Central Receiving to handle they will create a work order and Building & Grounds will schedule the delivery.

Central Receiving and Recycling!

CSI is committed to recycling. Central Receiving collects used toner cartridges and coordinates their pick up. Please participate by forwarding all your spent toner cartridges via interoffice mail to Central Receiving or give them to an Operational Services staff member the next time you see them.

Shipping/Returns

Central Receiving uses UPS to ship items pertaining to College business. Department approval is required If your shipment is a purchase return, please be sure that you have a return material authorization (RMA) number or a pre-approval from the addressee prior to bringing it to Central Receiving. Pack the item, preferably in its original container, assuring that it will not be damaged in transit. Be sure that you label the package correctly with all pertinent information required by the receiver of the package and be sure to include the RMA or any “attention to” information necessary in your labeling. You may bring the item to Central Receiving in building 1M or you may call to arrange for a pick-up from your area by calling extension 3228.

UPS (Overnight Delivery)  

The College has a contract with the UPS (United Parcel Service) to ship letters overnight using UPS Campus Ship. UPS Campus Ship is software provided by UPS that requires pre-registration (see below).   To send overnight letters and packages an authorized approval from the Chairperson, Dean or Director and a properly filled out request form (Yellow Card form) is required. Please use a UPS envelope, available in Central Receiving. You will print a label using UPS Campus ship.

To be granted access to use UPS Campus ship you must have your Dean, Chair or Director send an email to the Director of Operational Services,  Andrew Diaz, requesting an account and approving the person responsible for the use of the account. A confirming email will be sent by UPS usually within 24 hours with login information for you to access the College account.

When your package is properly prepared and authorized, you may bring it along with the completed request form to Central Receiving (not the Mail Room) or you may call extension 3228 for a pick-up.

Please plan ahead to make sure your package is prepared in time for pick up.  Your package must be in Central Receiving by 03:00 PM for a guaranteed overnight delivery. If you can’t get the piece to Central Receiving by 03:00 PM call Operational Services Ext.3220 and we will do our best to accommodate.
