Advisement
Graduate Program in Special Education Adolescence Generalist, Sequence 1
The Department of Education offers programs leading to the Master of Science in Education (MSEd) in Childhood Education, Adolescence Education, Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Special Education Childhood (1-6), Special Education Adolescence Generalist (7-12), the Post-Master’s Advanced Certificate for Leadership in Education and the Post-Master's Advanced Certificate for Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages. Students in these programs have two sources for advisement:
1) An Education faculty advisor assigned to each cohort of entering students.
2) The School of Education Director of Program Administration.
Education Faculty Advisor:
- Advises students about professional aspirations, career choices, intellectual growth, and unique opportunities.
- Advises students about Education course content, academic and professional relationships, and other academic issues that arise.
- Advises students who are in academic difficulty (i.e., whose GPAs have fallen below minimum standards) in their Education courses.
- Advise students who seek an academic waiver for an Education requirement of any kind.
School of Education Director of Program Administration (Diane Brescia, 3S-211, x3877)
- Advise students on the scheduling of courses (rotation and availability) and planning leading to program completion.
- Assists students with registration problems.
- Organizes and run student orientations for all programs.
