The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development
The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development (CTL&PD) exists to support instructional members of the College of Staten Island community in addressing career needs related to teaching, research, scholarship, and self-development. A Steering Committee of faculty members across the disciplines serve to identify and help shape priorities and strategic directions, plan initiatives and events, and participate in coordinating workshops and activities.
On this webpage, you will find information on CTL&PD news and events, as well as access to resources we provide, i.e., links to curricular and pedagogical materials, student-centered learning approaches, facilities for training or quiet space for reflection, and many more. Presently we have a Call for Presenters seeking volunteers to share their expertise in conducting a workshop or presenting a lecture. Past events, with attached presentations, documents shared, or recordings can be found under Faculty Engagement & Collaboration.
The Center is staffed with dedicated experts to guide you with teaching strategies, course design, assessment construction, instructional technology tools, and more. Email us (CTLPD@csi.cuny.edu), call us (x4007), or drop in via the Virtual Drop-In Center, or to the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development physically (1L-208). Come participate in any and all of our sessions and workshops where you can connect with your colleagues and/or learn new ways to engage and support your students, inside and outside the classroom.
The Center is open to all adjunct and full-time faculty and also to professional staff members -- current and retired.
