Dr. Randelle Sasa is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Nursing Department. His research interests include health disparities among Asian American and Pacific Islanders, Filipino caring attributes, men in nursing, high impact educational practices (HIPs), and topics in medical surgical and critical care nursing. Dr. Sasa has 20+ years of experience as a nurse in various capacities— staff nurse, clinical educator, research nurse, professor, and nursing program administrator. Dr. Sasa’ s more recent professional honors include:
- The 2023 Elsevier Educator of the Year Award by the Organization of Associate Degree Nursing (OADN), a consortium with members across 1,100 ADN programs in the US.
- The 2023 Nurse Educator of the Year Award by the University of the Philippines Nursing Association International (UPNAAI), a 501c3 nonprofit organization with members across the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia.
- Induction as Nurse Leader at the Alpha Phi Chapter (Hunter College) of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing in 2018.
- 2018 Doctoral scholarship recipient of the Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA).
- 2015 Okura Foundation Fellow at the Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA).
