Grozdena Yilmaz is a full time faculty at the department of Biology teaching challenging classes in Anatomy and Physiology, Physiology and Healthcare Ethics. She is the director of the Pre-Med/Pre-Health Advising Committee and oversees the advising of more than five hundred students across campus exploring career in medicine, dentistry, physician assist and other health field. Professor Yilmaz is a long-term advocate for effective student mentoring. She has a passion for helping students reach their highest potential and she is thrilled to share that with CSI community. Her current research interests focus on developing new, effective model in health care mentoring. She is the recepient of the prestigious dolphin award for outstanding teaching in 2019 and advisor of the year award in 2018 and 2020.
She is a licensed physician assistant (PA), a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and has more than ten years of clinical experience as chief physician assistant at SUNY Downstate Medical Center at LICH. Her areas of expertise are female health, urology, urogynecology and surgery. She is a CSI Alumnus- valedictorian of physician assistant class of 2003. In addition, she holds an advanced post- professional graduate degree from Stony Brook University.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) Fundraiser week. April 27-May 4, 2017
Raised funds to support John Hudson - a fourteen-year-old boy from Staten Island living with EB. John was unable to attend, but he was with us in pictures thanks to a very generous donation of photos of a famous NYC photographer from Perfect Exposures. He donated his art photos of children living with EB to promote the event.
