Professor Scarinci serves on the Board of Directors of the New York State CPA Society at the state level, in addition to serving on the Board for the Staten Island Chapter. She served as the Chairperson of the Society’s Annual Education Night for the past 10 years and the World of Accounting for high school students for the past two years. She is also Campus Liaison for the NYSSCPA. Professor Scarinci is currently serving on the CUNY Pathways Majors Committee and is a committee representative for the Honors College and Residents Halls. Professor Scarinci coordinated the Accounting Job Fair this Fall, in conjunction with the Career and Scholarship Center. Professor Scarinci also serves on the Business Department’s Appointment Committee.

Cynthia Scarinci’s research focuses mostly on auditing and small business. In the area of auditing, she has published two articles on the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. In the area of small business, she published her first article on small pension planning in 2006. Professor Scarinci conducted disaster recovery and contingency planning surveys of small businesses that have survived disaster, with the assistance of the Small Business Administration, and presented her findings at the NABET Conference in 2008.
