Students who enter the college with fewer than six transfer credits from another institution are required to complete the new student orientation degree requirement. The requirement is satisfied in two parts.
Part 1: New Student Orientation (NSO)
Students must complete an in-person New Student Orientation (NSO) session prior to starting classes. The College conducts numerous NSO sessions throughout July and August for students starting classes in the fall and at least two sessions in January for students starting classes in the spring.
Please feel free to contact the New Student Programs Unit at Orientation@csi.cuny.edu or 718.982.2529 for more information regarding New Student Orientation (NSO).
Part 2: The College Life Unit Experience (CLUE) Program
Participation in the College Life Unit Experience (CLUE) Program, which includes attendance at four CLUE-sponsored events: two Personal Growth (PG) experiences and two Co-Curricular (CC) experiences.
Students can opt to complete a one-credit freshman orientation course from the list below in lieu of the CLUE Program:
- SPD101: Issues in College Life (2 hours; 1 credit)
- SKO100: Freshman Orientation (2 hours; 1 credit) – open to SEEK students only]
Students must complete part two of the NSO degree requirement at CSI prior to the completion of 12 equated credits. Please click here more information regarding the CLUE Program or visit the Office of Student Life in 1C-201.
