CSI Facts
- The CSI Dining Services alone produce 400 lbs of pre-consumer waste per month.
- In October 2017 we held a Compost Project Workshop here at CSI.
- In November 2018 we built the first composter on campus.
- In March 2022, Dining Services began composting during COVID. CSI Sustainability hosted 2 composting workshops during the semester.
- In May 2022, students assembled a new composter donated by the NYC Compost Project to help manage the increased pre-consumer waste.

Get Involved
On Your Campus
- Create a composter from scratch.
- Have student compost volunteers monitor compost bins at lunch to make sure no contaminants enter the bins, and to remove them if there are.
