Dalia Kandiyoti researches and teaches comparative diaspora studies, American Studies, hemispheric studies, and world literature. Her recent research has focused on contemporary Sephardi culture and literature in multiple languages.

Professor Kandiyoti is the author of Reparative Citizenship for Sephardi Descendants: Returning to the Jewish Past in Spain and Portugal, co-edited with Dr. Rina Benmayor (Berghahn Books), The Converso's Return: Conversion and Sephardi History in Contemporary Literature (Stanford University Press), and Migrant Sites: America, Place, and Diaspora Literatures (University Press of New England). She has also published articles on Sephardi literature, Latinx fiction, transamerican writing, transnational identities and gender, place in Holocaust writing, and alterity in French literature in journals such as Latino Studies, Comparative American Studies, Contemporary Literature, Genders, MELUS, Modern Fiction Studies, and Studies in Jewish American Literature, and as well as in edited volumes.
