OPTIONS PROGRAM FOR MATURE LEARNERS

Are you an older adult learner or senior looking to audit a college class or attend adult literacy classes? Options is a unique alternative and Continuing Education program for you!

Options is a supportive community of lifelong learners over the age of 55. Exclusively available at the College of Staten Island, Options offers in-person and virtual classes designed to keep members active, connected, and thriving through a higher education experience!

Program Highlights: 

  • Unlike traditional college courses, there are no exams, no grades, and no written take-home assignments.
  • Our instructors are CSI professors, as well as retired, local professionals and enthusiasts who have passion for their craft.  We honor the lived experience of all of our community members.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be over the age of 55

Schedule

  • Fall Semester: September  – December
  • Spring Semester: February - May 
  • Classes are offered Monday - Friday.
  • Times of day for classes vary 

Tuition

  • $30 per course.
  • The scholarship application for Fall 2024 is open.  Please see registration and tuition payment instructions above to apply. 
    • Scholarships are provided based on financial need and a commitment to attend/complete the courses the recipient registered for. For those who would like to apply for the scholarship, but cannot commit to attending classes, we kindly ask that you refrain from submitting a scholarship application.
  • Tuition refunds may be granted upon receipt of an email request to options@csi.cuny.edu at least five business days prior to the first scheduled day of the course. Refund requests will not be honored after the course has begun.
  • Classes with insufficient enrollment are subject to cancellation.  In the event of cancellation, you can request a refund or apply your tuition credit to another course.
