Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program
CSTEP Mission
The CSTEP Program is designed to increase the number of historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students who enroll in and complete undergraduate and graduate programs leading to professional licensure or to careers in the fields of science, technology and education at the College of Staten Island. Exposing CSTEP students to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic) disciplines will help reshape the culture of these professions as students reach their desired career goals.
The CSTEP Program is housed at the College of Staten Island and supported and administered through The Division of Academic Affairs and the New York State Department of Education.
Importance of CSTEP in Current Economy
CSTEP graduates live in New York State and work in high paying STEM and licensed fields that contribute to the State and Local tax base, which aide in the economic recovery and boost our National debt. STEM fields are therefore vital to our State and Nation.
NYSED CSTEP Pledge
Today, as we connect the vision embedded in the Collegiate Science & Technology Program to a world in transition, we commit to be a learning community dedicated to empowering and transforming our lives and the lives of others. This vision provides the motivation and energy for bringing about a humane world, one that welcomes commonalities and cherishes the wealth of diversity found among our different community cultures. Using our collective knowledge and experience, we seek to advance social justice and protect human rights by valuing and nurturing the expansion of learning, intellectual inquiry, critical thinking and community services.
